This CD is usable on both the Mac and Windows platforms. This means that Stockpix¬ CDs work on most popular computer systems. Our image format is usable on all the major software packages on either platform.
Stockpix¬ have provided a customised browser for the images on this CD so that you can easily view, browse, and search the 100 images on the CD. Images can be dragged directly into your publishing program from the browser. To use the browser, you must first install the Kudo¿ reader.
Follow these steps for a quick start
1. Double click on the "Mac Install Me First" icon, and follow the steps to install the image browser. You need to restart your Mac, and then you are ready to view our catalogues.
2. The Kudo¿ browser and viewer will be installed into a folder caller "Kudo¿ Catalog Reader¬" on your hard disc. The installer also puts the Claris XTND Translators in your System Folder. The Stockpix¬ browsers reside in the Mac_Browser folder of your CD.
3. Open the browser directly with the Kudo¿ Reader, or drag-and-drop it from the Mac_Browser folder onto the reader. Double-click on a thumbnail image to view the original image. If the image is the same size as the thumbnail after you double-click on it, then you need to quit the Reader and assign more memory to it. We found that increasing the memory size to 7,000K or more does the trick.
4. For easy viewing of the images, make the window as big as possible. Click on the Toolbar buttons to view thumbnail images in different sizes.
5. The Riffle control (the double-headed arrow in the bottom right of the window) works like the Play, Fast Forward, and Reverse buttons on a home video player. To Riffle, hold the mouse button down on the Riffle control and zip forward or backward through the browser.
6. Click the "Find" button on the Toolbar to search for images in the browser using keywords. You do this by selecting the "Notes" popup menu on the right of the "Find" bar, and entering your choices ("Notes" is the field that contains all the keywords). The results of a search appears as a set of thumbnails. To see the keywords for a particular image, click on the rightmost of the three view icons. To return to viewing the entire catalogue, select "Find All" from the "Image" menu.
7. To place an image into PageMaker¿, QuarkXPress¬, Adobe PhotoShop¬ or Adobe Illustrator¿, select the thumbnail and drag it into the open document window. The Kudo¿ Reader will find the original image and place it in the document.
